Formerly known as Green Thumb, Experience Works is a national, nonprofit organization that provides training and employment services for mature workers in 30 states and Puerto Rico.
Experience Works provides a wide range of services designed to help mature individuals enter the workforce, secure more challenging positions, move into new career areas, or supplement their incomes. Some of these services include:
- Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP)– SCSEP provides training and employment opportunities to low-income, older Americans residing in primarily rural areas, allowing them to remain productive and independent while adding to their work skills.
- Training Services – Experience Works helps businesses find skilled information technology (IT) workers, and offers seniors, dislocated workers, and disadvantaged individuals the opportunity to train for and acquire high-tech jobs throughout the nation. Programs include Microsoft Office User Specialist Training (MOUS), Microsoft Certified Professional Training, Internet Specialization Training and Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer Training (MCSE).
Experience Works also offers a number of job-related training programs that include industry-specific programs for areas such as home health care, agriculture, security, customer service, and small-business development.
- Staffing Services – Staffing specialists place skilled individuals in employment based on their previous work experience, type of position that interests them, and preference for full or part-time work. Experience Works specializes in placing workers in administrative, clerical, word processing, receptionist and light industrial jobs.
- Local Services – Local services include services such as home health care, landscaping, home repair, administration of workforce centers, welfare-to-work programs, a statewide older worker information clearinghouse, and more.
